Pennsylvania Online Casino, Sports Betting Revenues up in April

Pennsylvania online casino games reported another monster month of gaming for April.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported this week the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, for April 2024 was $504.6 million, an increase of 5.87% compared to revenue generated in April 2023.

While it wasn’t the record setting month of March, Pennsylvania still saw significant increases in its iGaming and sports betting revenue totals in April.

iGaming Tops Revenue Yet Again

The vast majority of gaming revenue in the state came from iGaming, as is typically the case for Pennsylvania. The PGCB reported $173,425,559 in iGaming revenue for April, more than a 26% increase over the April 2023 revenue totals.

Tax revenue generated for the month was $75,617,783.

Online slots were the most lucrative game for Pennsylvania this past month, notching $126.01 million for the months. It surpassed iTable revenues in April by nearly $80 million, as the online table games reported just a shade over $45 million in revenue totals.

Poker again lagged behind slots and table games, reporting just $2.4 million in revenue for April.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course topped all operators with more than $62.3 million in iGaming revenue for the month, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort at $48.09 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia at $30.6 million.

Sports Betting Continue to Add Up

Sports betting handle and revenue totals declined in April compared with March, but that was to be expected. The NCAA college basketball tournaments drove numbers in Pennsylvania in March, while April was devoid of a marquis event to drive sports betting numbers.

Despite the decreases from March, Pennsylvania sports bettors still bet $646,061,065 for the month and saw $42,412,510 in total revenues. Both the handle and tax totals increased over the April 2023 totals by 12.9% and 14.52%, respectively.

Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during April 2024 was $15,268,504

FanDuel topped all operators in the state in total handle and total taxable revenue for the month. The sports betting giant reported $272.3 million in total sports betting handle and $25.4 million in total taxable revenue.

BetRivers took an absolute bath for the month, losing nearly $600,000 in April.
